How a clerk/non-barrister can create a matter from an opportunity in BarBooks for Chambers
The guide and video below, will walk you through how to create an Opportunity, change it’s status and convert it into a Matter.- Navigate to the “Opportunities” tab on the side bar.
- Click “New Opportunity”.
- Fill in all the necessary information.
- Ensure you put Barristers forward for the Opportunity.
- Click “Create”.
- The Opportunity you just created will now be at the top of the list in the Opportunities tab.
- Click into the Opportunity and you will be able to add additional information through the “Edit” button as well as any relevant Documents and Notes through the sub tabs.
- The Opportunity now needs to be either Accepted or Rejected.
- Click on the Status Bar next to the Opportunity’s name.
- Select Accepted or Rejected.
- This will then prompt you to Accept or Reject the Barristers which have been put forward for the Opportunity.
- The Opportunity has now been Accepted.
- In order for the Barristers to begin working on the Opportunity, it will need to be converted into a Matter.
- Click on the “Actions” button at the top right of the screen.
- Select “Convert to Matter”.
- Ensure all the necessary information has been added.
- Click “Create”.
- You will automatically be transferred to the Matters tab.
- The Matter will now be active and appear in the Matters tab of the assigned Barristers.
- Click into the Matter to begin working on it.
- A Matter can also be created directly through the Matters tab.
