CLERK | How to Use Special Flags in Bookings and the Diary

Special Flags help you highlight important bookings by visually tagging them in the Diary and Bookings list. This guide covers how to assign, view, filter, and export bookings with Special Flags.


Assigning a Special Flag to a Booking

You can assign a Special Flag when creating or editing a booking:

  1. Open the New Booking or Edit Booking window.

  2. Navigate to the Special Flag dropdown field.

  3. Select the desired flag (e.g., Critical, Priority).

  4. Click Create or Save.



Viewing Special Flags in the Diary

Once a flag is assigned, it will appear as a red badge next to the booking title in the Diary view, offering a clear visual indicator for high-priority items.


Filtering the Diary by Special Flag

To find flagged bookings quickly:

  1. Navigate to the Diaries page.

  2. Open the Filters panel on the right.

  3. Locate the Special Flag dropdown.

  4. Select one or more flags.

  5. Click Apply.

The Diary will refresh to show only the bookings that match your filter selection.



Viewing Flags in the Bookings List

Special Flags are also shown in the Bookings tab:

  1. Navigate to the Bookings page from the left-hand menu.

  2. In the TYPE column, you’ll see the assigned flag (e.g., Priority, Critical) for relevant bookings.



Exporting Booking Data with Special Flags

When exporting booking or diary data, the Special Flag is included as a separate column in the file.
The exported column order is:
Title | Special Flag | Status


Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Can we have our own list of Special Flags?
    Yes, the list of flags is customisable for each chamber. Please contact Support to set up your chamber’s specific list.
  • Will 'Critical' and 'Priority' flags have different colours?
    No. All Special Flags use the same red badge for consistency. The difference is in the label text.
  • Can I assign a Special Flag to a leave or personal event?
    No. Special Flags are only available for professional bookings such as Matters and Events and is not available for Leave types.
  • Who can add or edit a Special Flag?
    Both Clerks and Barristers can manage Special Flags if their role includes permissions to create or edit bookings.
